FOCAL Data Dashboard
To make our data accessible and usable, FOCAL has developed an interactive dashboard where users can select their region’s data and graphically display them.
The FOCAL dashboard is configured in English but displays forecast data for automotive production regions across Canada, including for Quebec and the Montreal region.
When you arrive at the dashboard landing page, you have three options:
FOCAL Automotive Production Sector Definition
This page provides an overview of FOCAL’s definition of the automotive production sector in Canada. In addition to core employment in vehicle assembly and parts manufacturing, we include in our definition portions of employment from other industries which are key contributors to automotive production in Canada.
Auto Employment Profiles
This page enables users to examine key automotive industry groups and key automotive occupational groups on a provincial (Ontario and Québec) basis and on a regional basis for key automotive regions across Canada.
Auto Occupational Forecasts
On this page, users can make data selections for viewing supply and demand forecasts for key occupational groups and individual occupations in the sector on a provincial and regional basis. Users can have the option to view forecasts for short-term (2021-2025), long-term (2026-2030), or the entire forecast period (2021-2030).
Use the Data Dictionary to view definitions for technical forecast terms such as “hiring requirement”, “new entrants”, “recruitment gap”, and more.
The FOCAL data dashboard will give direct links to the reports for the region you are viewing. Users may also wish to use the FOCAL data dashboard to access the Automotive Policy Research Centre’s (APRC) comprehensive database of automotive production-related companies across Canada.
